Recently I took a trip to Los Angeles for the infamous Ebony Fashion Fair (EFF Alumni) reunion and I had an amazing time. However, while I was there connecting with models and commentators who worked the runway over a 51 year history, I also worked the red carpet as media at a few events. On the last day of the fabulous reunion I joined my Ebony family at an “all white” brunch at Shanghai Red in Marina Del Rey and wore a tailored, sleeveless cotton dress with a zipped back. After saying goodbye, I rushed down (without speeding) to West Hollywood to prepare for the 1st Annual E.O.T.M (Entrepreneur on the Move) Awards, but with no time to drive to the Valley to change, I had to bring my clothes with me. (How many of you have done that before?)
Once I walked through the doors of the Pacific Design Center, I dashed to the rest room and put on a black cocktail dress with a silver studded intricate design on the front and chiffon sleeves. I kept on the same earrings and changed my lipstick from a neutral pink to a bright red and Voilà, I was ready to start interviewing the nominees and celebrity guests on the red carpet.
When you’re pressed for time it’s easy to make the transition from an afternoon to evening event when you have the perfect white or black dress. Here are a few dresses to add to your wardrobe for the next time you have double duty events in one day!
