When Barack Obama kissed his wife Michelle for the first time in 1989 it was after stopping by Baskin-Robbins to get ice cream. That kiss years ago, sealed the deal and shall we say the rest is history. To commemorate the location where that infamous first kiss took place, is a 3000-pound marker with a plaque that reads , “On this site, President Obama first kissed Michelle Obama.”
Written on the plaque is also a quote describing the details of the date, which just happens to be an exert from an interview President Obama did with Oprah for O Magazine in 2007. In that interview he said, On our first date, I treated her to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, our dinner table doubling as the curb. I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate.
One thing I noticed is when President Obama kissed Michelle he never stopped! You can tell that romance is alive and well in the White House.
The Obamas’ first kiss marker is located on the corner of Dorchester Avenue and 53rd Street in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
