Stylish & Savvy Sistah : The Woman with the Sultry Voice, Pearl Bailey

Pearl Mae Bailey March 29, 1918 – August 17, 1990

Sultry singer Pearl Bailey got her start in the 1930’s as a young girl performing in the clubs in Philadelphia. She became more of a triple threat as a singer, dancer and actress and made her debut on Broadway in the production of St. Louis Woman. She won an Emmy Award and a Tony Award for the stage play Hello Dolly, opposite Cab Calloway. She had her own television show was an accomplished author and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Ronald Regan.
