Bleeding Heart Project Founder: Raijean Stroud

Raijean Stroud is on a mission to spread the word about heart disease and she’s doing it by, ‘Educating the World, One Heart at a Time” through the ‘Bleeding Heart Project’.

According to The Cubick Chick :

Raijean started the project after being diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy and Congestive Heart Failure at 28 years of age. Raijean’s heart was only working at 25% and caused many symptoms, most she attributed to being tired and out of shape. Since being diagnosed, Raijean has had several surgeries and hospital stays, and she now wants to dedicate her time to help young people learn about heart health and heart disease—it doesn’t just strike older persons or the elderly. Heart disease does not discriminate.

Raijean recently talked to ForColoredGurls.com about her purpose:

“The central purpose of Bleeding Heart Project is to get the word out about heart disease to people 45 and under”. “A lot of people just don’t get it, especially people in my age range and younger. I fell into that category– I didn’t realize that it was a big deal. [And] it’s funny: When people see me, they don’t picture me as somebody who has a heart ailment.”

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in women today. Lets spread the word to other savvy sistahs and support those who are working to bring awareness to this disease.
