Textures : Natural Trends: Blond
This week on Mane Mondays, you’ll notice I went for a little “Blond Ambition”. Being natural gives you the flexibility to wear a variety of hairstyles, and adding hair color is a quick and easy way to enhance your look. I wore my hair blond years ago and and I wish I still had the photos, then again maybe it’s a good thing that I can’t find them. When I looked in the mirror I thought I looked good, but that was before social media sites. If that was today, I could see someone posting my pictures everywhere with the attached title, “What not to do to your hair”.
Now, if you do decide to go blond remember to first take your skin-tone into consideration. You have so many levels of blond to choose from, starting with a honey blond (golden shade) to a platinum hue (close to white). But just because it looks good on Beyonce or Mary J. Blige doesn’t necessarily mean it will look the same on you. If you’re not sure what shade to choose, I would recommend going to a professional but if you want to save a little money you can find some great shades by Dark & Lovely or Revlon.
Once you color your hair remember that you will now have chemically treated hair with a natural texture. So make sure you stock up on conditioner for moisture, protein from strength (I recommend Aphogee or Joico products) and invest in a hooded hair dryer so you will be able to do weekly deep conditions to keep your hair strands nice and strong.
