I started on my hair journey to natural hair about 14 months ago and until I can reach my goal I have decided to give my hair a break with a sew-in. Although this is a great way to give my hair a rest, it can be difficult at times to really get my scalp squeaky clean and hair moisturized.
Recently, I took out my sew-in after being in for 3 months and used Pantene’s Truly Natural Hair line to cleanse, condition and enhance my natural curl pattern before putting my hair back into my protective style.
After I took down my braids, I carefully combed through my hair with a wide tooth comb. It’s amazing how much hair you lose in three months. Next I shampooed my hair twice with the Clarifying Shampoo, from Pantene’s Natural Hair line which gentle cleanses to remove product build-up. After i finished clarifying my hair it felt really clean and ready to receive all of the much needed ingredients from the conditioner.
Next, I squeezed the excess water from my hair and used Pantene’s Deep Conditioner to detangle my hair while combing it from root to tip. Then I added more conditioner, parted my hair into 4 sections and twisted each one. I placed a plastic shower cap over my hair and sat under the dryer for 20 minutes to deep condition and add moisture to my hair.
Then I put clips in my twists and rinsed each section one by one with cool water to lock in moisture. Finally I used the Defining Curls Styling Custard (which I loved) to define my natural curl pattern and add shine. This product works great for natural hair and it doesn’t take much for you to see the desired results. I took one section of hair down, added a dollop to it and combed through the length with a wide tooth comb. I was really impressed with how my hair looked once it dried…soft, no frizz, curly and shiny.
Pantene’s Clarifying Shampoo, Deep Conditioner and Styling Custard is an effective and affordable three step regime for women with natural hair.
